With longer days upon us, now is the ideal time to lace up and hit the trails. From the tip of the wild Scottish Highlands to the famously beautiful South Coast, Britain is home to a staggeringly varied array of landscapes that are perfect for exploration on foot.
In this Collection, we’ve teamed up with Salomon to bring you five contrasting adventures, each handpicked by one of our expert hiking ambassadors. The hikes range from 3.5 to 7 miles (5.5 to 11 km) in length, making them ideal for morning, afternoon or even evening outings after work, with great opportunities to enjoy the setting sun from the trails.
Starting on the South Coast, we present an easy amble to Beacon Mill, wonderfully accessible from the vibrant city of Brighton. Next, we’re in Lancashire to tackle Forest of Bowland icon Clougha Pike. This beloved, heather-clad moorland peak offers a vast panorama on a clear day that includes the Lakeland Fells, Yorkshire Dales and even Blackpool Tower.
Staying in the North, we head for the Durham Dales to discover High Force waterfall, a beguiling 70-foot (21 m) cascade on the burgeoning River Tees. Further east, we take to North Yorkshire’s rugged coastline, following the Cleveland Way long-distance trail from the Victorian seaside town of Saltburn-by-the-Sea. This hike returns inland via the heritage-rich Warsett Hill, with its vestiges of the ironstone mining industry.
Last but certainly not least, we’re up in the Scottish Highlands above Garve to take on the Corbett summit of Little Wyvis. This 2,506-foot (764 m) peak boasts stunning views west towards the giants of the Northwest Highlands and to its big brother, the complex massif of Ben Wyvis.
So, what are you waiting for? Lace up your boots, go out and explore!
